Friends on the Go June 2026 took us to Echo Hollow Nature Park to meet up with third and fourth graders with the Boys & Girls Club of Morgan County summer camp!

Bobby with the Tackle Service Center in Mooresville shared his day with us to show us how to set up our fishing poles!

One of our Friends mentioned it had been 30 years since he went fishing last. Others were potentially skilled fishermen and enjoyed helping the kids set up their poles and bait their hooks.

After a picnic lunch, the kids did a little nature scavenger hunt and brought their findings to add to their new Friends' tape "bracelets."

To wrap up our afternoon, we felt a DQ stop was in order!

A day well spent meeting new friends, sharing some new memories and reminiscing of some old ones, all while taking in some nature too! We were visited by a curious raccoon who seemed pretty familiar with the park!

Yesterday a crew of seven volunteers from Duke Energy came out to our Martinsville center to help us spruce up our outdoor space for our Friends!

In less than two hours, they had it all ready and our Friends were able to get out safely to enjoy some Vitamin D and plant some plants!

What a blessing!

Friday Caregivers Needed!
MUST be available every Friday, 7:30a - 5p, or split shifts!

We are blessed to be growing in participants at our Martinsville location!

Additional hours will be available as we add Friends to the schedule.

MUST be dependable!

We just received word that our INDOT grant for TWO NEW low-floor accessible vans was awarded!! 🥰

First time applying... why not ask for two?! So we did! 🏆

We'll meet later this summer to place our order and we'll receive both in Summer/Fall of 2027! ☀️

These vehicles will allow us to add to our fleet to serve more seniors and families in our county! 🚐🚐

On today's "Friends on the Go" field trip, our Friends took Ms. Daisy to visit Jimmy Nash City Park - Martinsville Park for some games, a picnic and a few, even got on the swings!!

We then loaded up and headed to Martinsville Candy Kitchen for some sweet treats for all!

"Friends on the Go" is a result of our awarded funds from 100+ Women Who Care Morgan County and the Community Foundation of Morgan County to allow our Friends to enjoy getting out into our community with the assistance of our Team at A Senior Retreat, Adult Day Services!
