We Remember. We Honor. We Teach.
Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.
Across Henry County Public Schools, classrooms are taking time to remember and to help students understand the significance of that day. At Bassett High School, students participated in a 9/11 Stair Challenge during PE, climbing the stadium steps in remembrance of the first responders and others whose lives were forever affected by 9/11.
None of the students in our K-12 classrooms today were alive on September 11, 2001. For them, 9/11 is not a memory. It is history. That makes our responsibility to remember, to teach, and to pass along the stories of courage, sacrifice, service, and unity even more important.
Today, we remember those who were lost, honor those who served, and help a new generation understand why we will never forget.
