Twenty five years later, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families and communities forever changed by that day.

Here in Henry County, we honor that legacy by recognizing the men and women who serve our community every day. Our first responders, dispatchers, public safety personnel and public servants carry the responsibility of being there when our neighbors need us most.

Today, we remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call, and remain grateful for all who continue to serve.

Twain Lumber Company will invest $7.4 million to purchase and reopen the former Teal Jones sawmill in Henry County. Once operational, the facility is expected to create 74 new jobs and purchase more than $51.2 million in Virginia grown forest products over the next three years.

The investment will also bring the facility back into productive use, with upgrades that will increase its capacity and strengthen Henry County’s role in Virginia’s forestry industry.

We are grateful to Twain Lumber Company for investing in Henry County and to the state, federal and regional partners who helped make this project possible.

Congratulations to the Fieldale Volunteer Fire Company on celebrating its 80th anniversary!

As one of Henry County’s oldest volunteer emergency services agencies, the Fieldale Volunteer Fire Company has spent eight decades serving and protecting our community. From responding to fire emergencies to supporting the growth of the Fieldale community throughout its history, generations of dedicated volunteers have answered the call when their neighbors needed them most.

The Henry County Food Pantry provides a vital lifeline for residents during times of need, offering weekly food distribution, clothing, hygiene products, household essentials and other resources that help individuals and families get through difficult times. Through its programs and partnerships, the organization provides not only essential items, but also dignity, hope and support to members of our community.

Henry County and PSA offices will close at noon on Friday, September 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

Convenience Center sites will remain open on Labor Day. Essential services, including Public Safety, the Sheriff’s Office, 911 Communications, and other critical operations, will continue to operate as needed.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!
