Time is running out to make sure every Virginia voter has the option to vote for the Libertarian Party presidential ticket of Chase Oliver For President / Mike ter Maat. The Roanoke Valley Libertarians will be petitioning this Saturday August 17th from 4 pm - 8 pm at the Festival of India in Roanoke, VA. If you would like to sign the petition or help collect at this event, please email [email protected]

The Henry County Board of Supervisors are considering a nearly 12% increase in property tax. This is coming when the next 4-year reassessment goes into effect on 1/1/2025.

County officials point out the rate *could* be altered at that point if the combination of tax increases is deemed unnecessary.

Henry County will hold a public hearing on June 25 at 6 p.m., in the Summerlin Room of the Administration Building, to consider a proposal to set its real estate tax rate at no more than $0.62 per $100 of assessed valuation. The Martinsville Libertarians conducted a candidate survey with questions compiled by local members of the Libertarian Party of Virginia. These are real issues and pieces of existing or future legislation that the eventual winner may encounter at some point.

48th District Virginia House of Delegate candidates Eric Phillips and Melody For VA 48(listed in order of appearance on the ballot) were contacted via email. We only received responses from Mr. Phillips. We contacted Ms. Cartwright via the email addresses listed on her campaign page and on her official paperwork with the Department of Elections and didn’t receive a response.

While we won’t be issuing an official endorsement in this race, we would like to thank Mr. Phillips for taking the time to answer questions about issues that are of real concern to our members and non-members who lean libertarian.

The 4.2-acre park is in the heart of one of the city's commercial districts and will feature walking trails and benches.
