Berkeley Arts Council The Berkeley Arts Council promotes communication, collaboration, and opportunities for the arts community in Berkeley County, West Virginia.

The Berkeley Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) non‐profit organization incorporated in West Virginia working to ensure that Berkeley County has a vibrant, vital arts environment by promoting awareness, understanding and appreciation of the literary, visual and performing arts in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. The Berkeley Art Works, a project of the Berkeley Arts Council, is the realization of

the long-held dream of the arts community in Martinsburg and Berkeley County West Virginia: to have a community-based arts facility that supports local and regional artists, brings quality arts experiences for the members of the public, and provides a wide range of arts learning experiences for local residents, artists, and artisans. Calling all West Virginia high school artists! 🎨❄️ Get ready to leave your mark with WVDOT’s Paint the Plow program!
Students across the Mountain State are invited to transform an official WVDOH snowplow blade with your own original artwork. 🖌️ Once finished, the custom plows will be showcased online for a statewide public vote.

The best part? Your masterpiece will be put into full winter service, clearing roads right in your own district!

Artwork drop-off for the Summer Painting & Pastel Exhibition begins June 4 at Berkeley Art Works!

This fun, non-juried community exhibition is open to all artists 18+ working in painting or pastel media.

☀️ Let summer inspire your work and share your creativity with the community.

📍 Drop-Off Dates:
June 4-7 and June 11-14

💵 $10 per piece

EXCITING NEWS ... From the West Virginia Arts Office!

FY27 Arts Office Grant Programs are now open for application!
⏰ Deadline: May 18, 2026 at 4:59 p.m.

FY27 grant period: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027*
*Applicants can apply to multiple grant programs, as long as each application is for a different project; applicants cannot fund a single project through multiple grant programs.

We've updated or created the following programs:

🎨 INCREASED the maximum award for Community Arts Project Support and added more flexibility on matching funds

🎨 SIMPLIFIED Arts in Education into one application

🎨 A revised ARTS ENTREPRENEURSHIP grant for individual artists has replaced the Professional Development for Artists grant program

🎨 Created a NEW Public Art Grant (replaces Youth Engagement through Public Art) open to schools, nonprofit organizations, and local governments to install sculptures or murals to beautify communities and increase tourism

🎨 Created a NEW Creative Economies Mini Grant for Artists for small projects that benefit their local or creative communities (Available for application in May, this program will replace the Travel & Training grant for artists.)

FYI - The Competitive Arts Grant program was funded by the West Virginia Legislature in the signed FY27 budget bill at an all-time high of $1,028,838.

Summer Painting & Pastel

We’re looking for vibrant, expressive pieces that capture the spirit of the season - from bold landscapes to soft pastel studies and everything in between.
