"This case is another example of the tremendous value of cooperation and coordination among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Through the combined efforts of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Marshals Service, and the Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, a significant investigation involving the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, ma*****na, ketamine, and co***ne base was successfully brought to a conclusion.

This investigation reflects the very principles embodied in President Donald J. Trump's 'Operation Take Back America' initiative, which emphasizes aggressive enforcement efforts targeting drug trafficking organizations, violent criminals, and those who threaten the safety and well-being of our communities.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office remains committed to supporting those efforts and utilizing every available resource to combat the flow of dangerous narcotics into our neighborhoods.

The presence of fentanyl and other illicit drugs in our communities continues to pose a serious threat, particularly to our youth and vulnerable populations. Those who choose to profit from addiction and distribute these dangerous substances should know that law enforcement at every level remains committed to identifying, investigating, and holding them accountable.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to United States Attorney Matthew L. Harvey and Assistant United States Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the successful prosecution of this case. Their efforts, along with the outstanding work of our law enforcement partners, demonstrate what can be accomplished when agencies work together toward a common goal.

I commend all investigators, prosecutors, deputies, agents, and support personnel involved in this case for their hard work, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Berkeley County and making our community a safer place for all."

V**E SHOP BUYS AND SEARCH WARRANTS-

Participating Agencies:
- Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
- Berkeley County Court Transportation Division
- Martinsburg Police Department
- Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office
- ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement)
- WV ABCA (Alcohol Beverage Control Administration)
- West Virginia Tax Compliance Division and Criminal Investigation Division (CID)
- Remote support provided by the WV Department of Agriculture

Over the last several weeks, the agencies mentioned above have been coordinating efforts to combat the illegal and dangerous distribution of controlled substances and other substances prohibited for sale to minors in the State of West Virginia. This effort culminated over the last several days with (24) stores visited by underage cooperative individuals, undercover agents, with support from uniformed Berkeley County Sheriff Deputies and Martinsburg Police Officers. Fourteen (14) H**p products were sold to underage cooperatives. Seventeen (17) “Hot Products” tested over the legal limit by ABCA. Note: Under WV Code “any underage sales are felonies”. Today, teams of the listed agencies served seven (07) search warrants that were obtained as a result of the undercover operation. The warrants were served this morning throughout Berkeley County and the City of Martinsburg. Evidence of the illegal distribution and operations were seized.
The Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PA Joe Kinser) will be leading the prosecution of all charges resulting from this investigation. Further inquires can be directed to the West Virginia Department of Revenue Tax Compliance and Criminal Investigation Divisions.
“This cooperative effort once again demonstrates the strength of the partnerships and coordination among our local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Individuals who seek to distribute dangerous and illegal substances within our community, particularly to our youth, will be pursued and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
The safety and well-being of our citizens—especially our young people—remain our highest priority. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office will continue working cooperatively with our law enforcement partners to combat drug and illicit activity, to ensure Berkeley County remains a safe and thriving community for our families.
I commend all personnel involved for their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting our community and making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.”

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank each agency involved in this Federal Drug Enforcement matter (Federal, State, County, and Local). Sheriff Blair would also like to thank FBI Director Kash Patel, US Attorney Matt Harvey, and the entire Trump Administration for their unwavering support for our local, state, and county police agencies.

“The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office looks forward to working closely and cooperatively with all Law Enforcement agencies in the future, in order to combat drug and violent crimes. It truly takes a “Task Force” mentality, placing agency identity aside and working to accomplish shared goals of arresting criminals and removing the deadly poison they are distributing to future our generations. Far too many lives are being destroyed and I applaud the Trump Administration’s efforts to support all law enforcement across our great nation.”

BCSO IDENTIFIES SUSPECT IN ARMED CARJACKING INVESTIGATIION

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect involved in an armed carjacking that occurred on May 31, 2026, at approximately 4:18 p.m. at Roc's Gas Station, located at 1100 Shepherdstown Road in Martinsburg.
According to investigators, a family was stopped at the gas station while addressing a flat tire when an unidentified male approached their vehicle and threatened them with a firearm. The suspect demanded the occupants exit the vehicle and threatened to shoot them if they did not comply. The victims safely exited the vehicle, and the suspect fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Witnesses described the suspect as a tall Black male with dreadlocks, wearing all black clothing and carrying a backpack. Witnesses also reported that what appeared to be a sword was protruding from the top of the backpack.
A short time later, authorities in Washington County, Maryland advised that the suspect had abandoned the stolen vehicle in their jurisdiction and subsequently carjacked a second vehicle at gunpoint. Law enforcement officers attempted to apprehend the suspect; however, the pursuit was later terminated.

UPDATE –
On June 1, 2026, Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputies received information that the suspect developed during the investigation had been arrested following a bank robbery in Maryland.
