"This case is another example of the tremendous value of cooperation and coordination among local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Through the combined efforts of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Marshals Service, and the Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, a significant investigation involving the distribution of methamphetamine, fentanyl, ma*****na, ketamine, and co***ne base was successfully brought to a conclusion.
This investigation reflects the very principles embodied in President Donald J. Trump's 'Operation Take Back America' initiative, which emphasizes aggressive enforcement efforts targeting drug trafficking organizations, violent criminals, and those who threaten the safety and well-being of our communities.
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office remains committed to supporting those efforts and utilizing every available resource to combat the flow of dangerous narcotics into our neighborhoods.
The presence of fentanyl and other illicit drugs in our communities continues to pose a serious threat, particularly to our youth and vulnerable populations. Those who choose to profit from addiction and distribute these dangerous substances should know that law enforcement at every level remains committed to identifying, investigating, and holding them accountable.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to United States Attorney Matthew L. Harvey and Assistant United States Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the successful prosecution of this case. Their efforts, along with the outstanding work of our law enforcement partners, demonstrate what can be accomplished when agencies work together toward a common goal.
I commend all investigators, prosecutors, deputies, agents, and support personnel involved in this case for their hard work, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to protecting the citizens of Berkeley County and making our community a safer place for all."
