🌿 Help prepare Contra Costa for the rainy season!

One of the easiest ways to protect local waterways is by joining a community cleanup before the first fall rains.

Removing litter now helps keep trash out of storm drains and protects our creeks, the Delta, and the Bay.

Whether you volunteer for an organized cleanup or spend a few minutes picking up litter in your neighborhood, every effort makes a difference.

🍂 Fall is almost here!

Now is the perfect time to prepare for the rainy season! During the dry months, leaves, litter, pet waste, and other debris can build up around our neighborhoods. If not collected or cleaned up when the first rain (“first flush”) arrives, those pollutants wash into our storm drains and eventually reach our creeks, the Delta, and the Bay.

Preparing before the first rains is easy:

🍁 Sweep leaves away from storm drains
🌱 Use yard trimmings as mulch or compost
🧴 Store fertilizers and garden products in dry, covered areas

Small seasonal actions help keep our waterways clean all year long.
