Our remembrance this morning continues. Members of A-Shift completed 110 flights this morning at the UTM football stadium in honor of the 343 firefighters that perished on 9/11.

Preparing for the 9/11 memorial walk this morning. Firefighters walked in full gear 1.9 miles this morning to the downtown station. We appreciate all the citizens that pulled over for us and that came outside from their homes and businesses as we came by.

🇺🇸 25 Years — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

On this day 25 years ago, members of the affected communities, firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and countless others started their day just like any other.

A few hours later, the lives of every American changed forever.

Today, we remember the innocent lives that were lost and honor the first responders and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help others. Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we remember September 11, 2001, may we also never forget the families who lost loved ones, the communities forever changed, and the strength and unity our country showed in the days that followed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

⚠️DANGEROUS HEAT CONTINUES ACROSS THE MID-SOUTH ⚠️

A Heat Advisory remains in effect today (Wednesday, Sept. 9) from 11 AM–8 PM across much of the Mid-South.

🌡️ Today’s Forecast:
• Highs in the upper 90s to around 100°F
• Heat index values 105–109°F
• Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
• Drink plenty of water and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles

⛈️ Looking Ahead to Thursday:
Another hot day is expected, with temperatures in the mid-90s to around 100°F and heat indices potentially reaching 105°F or higher.

🌦️A Marginal (Level 1/5) risk for severe thunderstorms is expected late Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening across portions of northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, and northwest Tennessee.

💨 Primary storm threat: Damaging winds
🌧️ Secondary threat: Localized heavy rainfall

The severe storm threat remains low confidence, but the heat-related impacts are highly likely.

👉 Bottom line: Stay hydrated, take the heat seriously, and keep an eye on the forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening.
