"End of Lake Journey -- Logs that were brought down the 34-mile Hungry Horse lake leave the lake for a final journey in trucks to Flathead valley lumber mills. The F, K, and L Lumber Co. of Martin City operates two tugs to pull log booms from Heinrude creek on the upper west side of the lake about 30 miles to the Hungry Horse landing on the lower east side of the lake, not far from the gigantic dam. From this point, trucks take logs to the mills. Booms run close to 500,000 board feet, or about 3,000 logs. Mel Ruder photo"
