On this solemn anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pay tribute to the brave firemen, policemen, EMS personnel, and all those who lost their lives on that fateful day.

Today, we honor and remember the heroes and their unwavering courage, selflessness, and sacrifice. We will continue to honor them through our dedication to safety, service, and helping those in need.

We ask that you take a moment of silence today, as a tribute to Never Forget. ❤️🤍💙

There is now an ENHANCED RISK (level 3 of 5) for severe weather across parts of Northeast OH and Northwest PA for later today. Confidence is increasing in a cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms moving southeast across the area this evening. Damaging winds are expected to be the primary severe weather threat with these storms. Flash flooding, isolated hail, and perhaps a brief tornado are also possible.

Please be prepared in case of harsh weather tonight.

Today, we honor the memory of Lieutenant Tommy Ware, Firefighter Edward Brillhart and Firefighter Robert Galehouse. Their bravery and dedication will never be forgotten. We keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts as we remember these three heroes on this solemn anniversary.

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1985, at 8:15 p.m., Lieutenant Ware, Firefighter Galehouse and Firefighter Brillhart were killed while they were attempting to extinguish a fire in an oxygen-limiting silo at Butzer Farm, located on the corner of Warwick and Black Diamond Road, by scaling the 80-foot facility and spraying water into it. The three were on the top of the silo, directing water onto the flames when an explosion lifted the concrete roof of the silo four feet in the air, throwing Ware and Brillhart to the ground while Galehouse fell into the silo.

As many Ohio students complete their first week back at school, remember to slow down, stay alert, and eliminate distractions in school zones. With increased traffic, frequent school bus stops, and students walking or biking to school, drivers must stay alert to their surroundings.

Obey posted school-zone speed limits, watch for children entering the roadway, and remove any distractions. A few extra seconds of caution behind the wheel can make all the difference in ensuring every student arrives at school and returns home safely.
