Deputy Hunt and K9 Bosco recently attended a K9 emergency medical course, gaining valuable hands-on training in critical areas. The class covered important topics including heat-related injuries and dehydration, illicit drug exposure, CPR, gastric dilatation-volvulus (stomach bloat), basic K9 anatomy, and treatment for penetrating wounds and lacerations. These are all injuries commonly encountered by working dogs in the field.
Participants were also provided with a medical kit stocked with essential supplies to assist in emergency situations.
We extend our thanks to the veterinary technicians who provided this excellent training at no cost, as well as to Trace Erickson from Code Blue K9 Training for the invitation.
