Nuisances

Tall Grass & Weeds

Property owners, lessees, and occupants are required to keep grass, weeds, and other rank vegetation trimmed below 8 inches in height. Overgrown vegetation on lots is considered a danger to public health, safety, and welfare.

Debris & Yard Waste

Yard waste, including grass clippings and leaves, as well as trash, may not be swept or deposited into streets, sidewalks, or waterways. Doing so can introduce excess nutrients into creeks and streams and may clog municipal storm drains, resulting in localized flooding.

Enforcement & Abatement

The City investigates reports of illicit discharges and unkempt properties. If a nuisance violation is found to exist, warnings or notices may be issued requiring prompt cleanup and correction of the violation.

Penalties

Failure to comply may result in the issuance of a citation requiring you to appear in court. If found guilty, you may be ordered to pay court costs and fines associated with the violation.

Trash Service Information

We would also like to remind residents that our trash service provider, RTS Waste Services LLC, will pick up one large item at the beginning of each month, such as a dresser, couch, or similar household item.

For additional information regarding acceptable items for pickup, please contact RTS Waste Services LLC at 660-784-2474.
