🚨 Voter Alert – Text Messages About Voter Registration 🚨

We have been made aware that some Missouri voters are receiving text messages claiming their voter registration may not match their current address.

At this time, Saline County has not sent any text messages regarding voter registration.

The messages that have been reported appear to contain outdated voter information. In many cases, voters who recently received a voter registration card and have not moved are already correctly registered.

If you would like to verify your voter registration, you can do so by using the Missouri Secretary of State’s website:

You may also contact the Saline County Clerk’s Office directly and we will be happy to assist you.

⚠️ USPS Postmark Change Could Impact Tax Deadlines

A recent USPS policy shift means your mail may not receive a postmark on the day you send it. That means payments mailed on time could still appear late.

If you have not mailed your tax payments yet I would advise asking the postmaster to stamp them when you drop them off at the post office or pay online at www.salinecountymo.gov. We will be open 8:00 AM-4:30 PM today and tomorrow. There is also a drop box in the circle drive where payments can be dropped off.

📬 Important Reminder About Postmarks for Tax Payments

As we approach the end of the year, please remember that tax payments sent by mail must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2025 to be considered on time.

If you plan to drop your payment off at the post office during the final days of December, please confirm that it will receive a December 2025 postmark. This is very important—postmarks dated January 1 or later are considered late pursuant to Missouri Statute 139.100.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office at 660-886-5104. We're here to help!

📬 Heads up, neighbors! USPS just changed how postmarks work.

A new policy means your mail might not get a postmark right when you drop it in the mailbox — it could be dated later at a sorting center. This matters for things like property tax payments, which must be postmarked by the deadline.

You may ask the post office clerk to hand stamp your mail piece to ensure a timely postmark to avoid the later post mark date.

To be safe, please send important mail early or use online payment options if you can. You can pay online at www.salinecountymo.gov. The cheapest option online is by echeck - $1.75.

Here’s the article explaining the change:

📬 Important Notice About USPS Postmark Changes

The United States Postal Service has implemented a major policy change that may affect how postmarks are applied to mailed items — including tax payments. Postmarks may now be added later in the mailing process, which could result in items appearing “late” even if they were mailed on time. You may ask the post office clerk to hand stamp your mail piece to ensure a timely postmark.

To avoid issues, please mail any tax payments or deadline-sensitive documents early, or consider using online payment options when available. The best option to pay online is by echeck - $1.75 - www.salinecountymo.gov
