Attention all units… stand by for a final call.

Calhoun County 911 honors the life and service of Deborah Owen, affectionately known by many as “Dispatch Debbie.”

Debbie proudly served the City of Battle Creek and the greater Calhoun County community for more than three decades as a 911 Telecommunicator and later as a Dispatch Supervisor, retiring on November 4, 2015. Through countless calls, long shifts, and moments when calm voices mattered most, Debbie answered the call to serve with professionalism, dedication, and heart.

While many knew her as Dispatch Debbie, her most cherished call signs were Daughter, Sister, Mom, Maw, and Kiki Debbie. Those titles reflected the love and devotion she carried far beyond the walls of the communications center.

Today, we recognize not only Debbie’s years of faithful public service, but the lasting impact she made on her family, her coworkers, and the community she so proudly served.

Supervisor Owen, your watch has ended. Your service, your laughter, and your legacy will not be forgotten.

Calhoun County 911 to Supervisor Owen… thank you for your years of dedicated service. We have the watch from here.

Final call completed. Rest easy, Debbie. You are clear.
