Fall programs start next week! We will have an info/activity meeting on Tuesday, September 8 at 2:00. I know this is during the school day. Most of our tween this summer were homeschoolers. If you are not a homeschooler and interested in the program, please comment here and we will include that in our planning!

📣 Marshall Public Library Re-Opens This Week

The City of Marshall is scheduled to re-open the Marshall Public Library to the community on
Tuesday, Aug. 18, following the successful completion of a professional chemical treatment for bed bugs. City Manager Greg Smith said library staff are returning Monday, Aug. 17 to help prepare for the re-opening.

The Marshall Public Library temporarily closed on July 24 to allow qualified pest-control
professionals to thoroughly inspect and treat affected areas. Follow-up inspections have
confirmed the chemical treatment to have been effective and the facility is ready to welcome
patrons and staff back to the library.

The treatment process was completed by Rentokil of Irving. Additionally, staff training will focus on how to isolate materials and inspect for bed bugs.

📚 Meanwhile, Marshall Public Library officials are reporting an increase in the digital services
being offered to the community. More patrons are discovering the convenience of going online
to check out e-books and audiobooks from their home computer or on the go, said Library
Director Terri Nalls.

More than 41,000 titles are available. A digital reading challenge has launched, allowing readers of all ages to track and record their progress for prizes. 👏

Library patrons can access online newspapers, magazines and research databases, history and genealogical information without stepping foot in the library, Nalls said. Patrons can renew library materials, place holds and manage their accounts online. These library services are providing 24/7 access to information, learning opportunities and entertainment.

“During the closure, we are pleased to see more people using our digital library services,”
Nalls said. “We are excited to see this increase but we’re also ready to welcome our patrons back into the library. We appreciate their patience and understanding.”

Popular library services, including book check-outs, computers, children’s programs and
meeting rooms are scheduled to resume Tuesday, Aug 18.
