At Monday night's meeting, the Board of Education proudly recognized Mrs. Caitlin Goforth for being named a finalist for the prestigious NCCAT 2027 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year! This is an incredible honor and a testament to her dedication to our students and community.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Deputy Executive Director Dr. Karen Sumner and Kim Sexton from the NC Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) for attending the meeting, recognizing Mrs. Goforth's outstanding achievements, and presenting her with a plaque. Growing Our Math Practice!
This morning, our K-5 teachers participated in professional development focused on strengthening math instruction through Math investigations, our district’s core math curriculum, and mClass Math, our K-5 math assessment. Teachers spent time reviewing curriculum materials, exploring resources and instructional components, and making connections between classroom instruction and assessment data.
We are excited to continue building consistency and confidence in math instruction across our elementary classrooms! A special thank you to our teachers for investing their time and energy into professional learning and, most importantly, into the success of our students in Madison County Schools!
