The 2026 ALICE Report is here. π
According to the 2026 State of ALICE Report, traditional poverty lines are severely underrepresenting the struggle. In Marquette County, 43% of our households are living below the ALICE Threshold of Financial Survival.
17% of local households live below the federal poverty line. An additional 26% qualify as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), earning above the poverty line but short of what it actually costs to afford housing, child care, food, and transportation in the U.P.
Behind these percentages are our neighbors, coworkers, and essential workers making impossible choices every single day.
Our Executive Director Andrew went down to Lansing last week to advocate directly to state representatives on behalf of our local ALICE population. We're using these findings to drive our local strategy so we can continue guiding our investments, driving community conversations, and building stronger paths to stability.
