❄️ Quick Community Check-in ❄️

Excellent repost of a common photo circulating reminding us of the little things we can do to keep our homes safe as we weather the storm. Snow blocking these vents could lead to appliances not working properly or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Clear the areas around these important vents and make sure your CO detectors are working. Help your neighbors if you can and we will get through this together.

KEEP METER CLEAR
• Never allow snow to cover your gas meter, its pressure regulator or block your appliance exhaust vents.
• Use caution when shoveling snow, plowing, or snow blowing to avoid piling snow against your gas meter, pressure regulator or appliance vents.
• Clear a path to the meter free from snow and ice for easy access. A blocked meter can hinder access to responders on the event of an emergency.

Do not try to remove ice or frozen snow from the natural gas meter pressure regulator or piping. If you find your meter or pressure regulator covered in ice or frozen snow, do not attempt to remove the ice or use de-icer.

Contact SEMCO ENERGY Gas Company, toll free, at 1 800 624 2019.

🚨 Anyone in SE New England with these crazy amounts of snow… make sure you clear snow from where your furnace vents! CO is a killer.

❄️ Beware of the biting cold this week! Dangerous temperatures and chilling winds can lead to frostbite and hypothermia in no time. Don’t forget to check in on your elderly family members to ensure they're safe and warm.
