Logan completed his CSI requirement with the Marquette Women’s Center, doing whatever was needed on any given day. Logan is our Skill Builder Leader of this block with a total of 48 credits. He said one of his favorite memories in the SLFP was UN250 which allowed him for more self-exploration and developing confidence in his skills. Logan graduated with a degree in Psychology and is looking to attend graduate school.

Fiona completed her CSI with the fresh coast film festival helping with the box office, leading other volunteers and serving as a venue manager on the last day.
Some of the most impactful parts of the program for Fiona, were her CSI, developing better social and networking skills, their community mentor and having fun at the retreat. This summer she is heading to Cambridge to complete a month-long program. She will be graduating from NMU in May 2027 with a degree in Mathematics.

Jack completed his CSI at Lake Superior Community Partnership and several other sites. At LSCP, he worked to update their Business Succession tool kit to provide resources for local businesses. Jack says that his favorite part of the SLFP was the people he met and the lifelong friendships made. Jack will be continuing his service with the NMU Football Team and he graduates in May 2027.

Gabrielle completed her CSI with Camp STAR Children's Bereavement Service for children from 8-17 who have experienced the loss of a parent, friend or loved one. She says that she enjoyed the fall retreat and connecting with the other blocks and student fellows. She graduates from NMU in the fall of 2026 with a Degree in Nursing and wants to work in pediatrics. This summer she will be doing a nursing internship at Aspirus Keweenaw.

Iris completed her CSI with the League of Women Voters. She is also continuing the mission of her CSI by establishing League of Women Voters as a student chapter on campus. Her favorite part of the SLFP was being able to use her skills and experiences to become more involved in the Marquette Community and making some great friends in the program. This summer she’ll be working at Velodrome and training for a 50k ultra marathon. She is graduating in May of 2027 and plans to pursue a masters in Public Administration.

Taryn completed her CSI with the Noquemanon Trail Network using her GIS skills and training to develop new maps for the NTN Trails. When reflecting on her time in the SLFP, she says she really enjoyed getting involved in the community through her CSI, the SLFP Retreat and being forced to meet new people through the program. She will graduate from NMU in December and will complete the Student Airborne Research Program with NASA this summer.

A few weeks ago, the SLFP celebrated the graduation of our 34th cohort, the Salamander Block!

We are so proud of all of the accomplishments these students made during their time in the program, and we are even more excited to see what they continue to accomplish. This graduation was bittersweet as it was the last we would share with our graduate assistant and Dream Block member, Gwen Feamster. We are so thankful for her time and dedication to the SLFP.

The SLFP would additionally like to congratulate CSI of the Year winner Ella Price for her internship, "Art With Ella," and all of our Top Block Award winners.

Last week we hosted our first official meeting for the 2026-2028 cohort. Students had a chance to meet one another and even chose their color -- a deep evergreen. Voting is still open to decide the exact hue to represent them.

Join the SLFP for an exciting social opportunity! We will have rounds of Kahoot followed by classic pub style trivia.

This event will be open to the Sunrise Block, Salamander Block, AND our new 2026-2028 cohort. To ensure an accurate count, you MUST register on TheHub. If you are bringing a mentor, register for them as well.
