Please be aware that federal courts and the U.S. Marshals will never demand money or sensitive personal information over the phone. Do not provide your Social Security number, date of birth, or banking details.

Captain Brian Steede and Lt. Jason Kangas are pictured with Deputy Matthew Peters who successfully completed the North Central Michigan College, Michigan Sheriffs' Coordinating and Training Council Corrections Academy. The academy is 160 hours of mandatory training for all local correctional officers. Congratulations Deputy Peters on a job well done!

It is often a thankless job but we want to take this time to say thank you for all that you do for our community and our department!

The Marquette Police Department would like to remind everyone to be aware of scams affecting our local area. If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a deputy who is requiring you to pay cash into a kiosk or cryptocurrency ATM, it is likely a scam. If you suspect a scam, disconnect from the caller immediately. Verify if you need to respond to a criminal action by calling your local police agency. Law enforcement agencies do not accept payments involving gift cards or cryptocurrencies.
