Here is a fun citizen science opportunity coming up this weekend!!

Join Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy (UPLC), MSU Extension (MSU-E), and Michigan Natural Features Inventory (MNFI) on Sunday, May 17th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for an in-depth field training experience to learn how to identify species found in and around vernal pools and practice the Michigan Vernal Pool Patrol monitoring protocol. Gain confidence in your ability map and monitor vernal pools on your own!

🌳🌳🌳Tree Sale pick-up is this weekend🌳🌳🌳

We will be at Belsolda Farm (488 Mangum Road, Marquette) this Friday, May 8th from 1pm-7pm and Saturday, May 9th from 10am-12pm with your tree sale orders! If you can't pick up your order, be sure to let us know or you will be charged a holding fee!

Didn't place an order? Here is a list of extra stock that we will have available starting tomorrow at 1pm. Deciduous bare root seedlings, some conifer plugs and bare root seedlings, fruit trees and produce items available!!! First come, first served! Cash or check only!!

Just a friendly reminder that we will be out of the office next week packing tree sale orders at the farm 🌳🌳🌳

We are so excited to give you your trees, shrubs and produce items next weekend 🍎🍐🫐🍑

If you can't pick up your order, remember to give us a call at 906-226-8871 and leave a voicemail, or email [email protected] to arrange an alternate pick-up date. Orders that do not make arrangements for later pick up will be charged a holding fee!

L2L CISMA Coordinator, Elise Desjarlais, is off to her next adventure after 10+ years of working for MCCD & L2L CISMA! Elise has worked to ensure the success of the CISMA program over the duration of her career at MCCD and her hard work and contributions will have a lasting impact on the program and our local natural resources.

We are all so incredibly grateful for her strong leadership, guidance, and stewardship ethic through the years. It has been such an honor working alongside her and learning from her expertise. We will miss her dearly, but we wish her all the best in her next chapter!

With the support of the L2L CISMA steering committee and Elise, a new Coordinator has stepped into the role - stayed tuned for staff introductions. We aim to uphold the same level of hard work and dedication that Elise brought to the CISMA for the last 10+ years! Thank you, Elise!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

🌎🌍🌏Happy Earth Week!

Join us for a fun night of conservation trivia at Iron Bay Restaurant & Drinkery on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6:30PM, or participate in the City Nature Challenge 'bio blitz' at the Harlow Lake Trailhead from 4-6PM on Friday, April 24th!

City Nature Challenge is a nationwide citizen science event to observe as much biodiversity as possible during Earth Week. We will look at macroinvertebrates from Harlow Creek starting at 4PM and have a flora ID walk at 5PM. Observations will be logged with the free iNaturalist app! Feel free to come out anytime from 4pm-6pm and join us for as long or as short as you like!
