Interested in the relationship between trauma and individual well-being? Check out our Intro to Crisis and Trauma class this fall! This course is available for both our BSW students (SW 407) and our MSW students (SW 530). It is offered in hybrid form for our on-campus students and is also available for our global campus students. Instructed by Rachel Holman, classes are on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm. Prerequisites: SW 100 or junior standing or instructor’s permission.
This course explores the impact of crisis and trauma on individuals, families, and communities, along with resilience factors and intervention methods. Students will learn trauma-informed practices, crisis management strategies, and su***de prevention techniques. The course addresses cultural, legal, and ethical considerations, as well as issues like secondary traumatic stress and burnout in human service professionals. Theory and best practices will guide discussions on effective crisis response and trauma intervention.
