Hi friends,

Terry Bailey here: This week as we “cross the comfort gap” together - I was reminded of, in the purest form, an age old saying - “don’t give up”…. Spoiler: it’s the secret of crossing the gap.

With work, school, preparing for baby #5 in a few weeks and balancing life… training has been hard and I’ve had those “should I give up” thoughts creep in.

Watching my son finally catch “Chili” (one of our chickens) after many, many attempts… those negative thoughts left! He was so proud and so was I!

Good job kiddo - you achieved your goal, and reminded your dad in the process that not giving up matters.

Sometimes inspiration and motivation comes from the simple things in life. This week friends, let the chronicles of Max and Chili be your reminder that giving up on your goals will not allow you to cross the comfort gap.

Stay tuned for a weekend post - I will be taking you on a POV journey through the trails of MQT!

Please pray for me - know of my prayers for you!

God bless and be well!

Hi there,

Like I mentioned in the video where I opened up about some personal low points - it’s good to be reminded that life naturally comes with ups and downs.

Life comes at each of us in waves — there are simple days and there are hard days. We have seasons of clarity, and we also have seasons of confusion. That’s part of being human, and you know what….? Being human is awesome.

During my time with the Coast Guard here in Marquette, I logged over 700 hours on the lake driving the stations response boats around. I can confirm that the November waves not only look different, but feel different than the waves of a breezy August day.

Reflecting on that, Lake Superior reminds us that seasons always come and go with time, and the waves that accompany the season drastically differ too — we can apply this same lesson to life.

This week, friends, be merciful with yourself, and accept the graces needed to surf the wave you’re on.

Please pray for me - know of my prayers for you!

God bless and be well!

Recovery is not a journey that has to be walked alone💙

Recently the women from our Hosanna House & Elizabeth’s House spent the day exploring some of the UP’s most beautiful destinations - Sugarloaf Mountain, Presque Isle, Blackrocks, & Miners Castle

In addition, this position oversees daily house operations, coordinates with community partners and behavioral health professionals, and provides guidance to residents and house leaders to support a structured, recovery-focused environment.

If you're passionate about helping others build stability and hope in recovery, we encourage you to apply.

Hi friends,

We still have much more to talk about over the next couple of months regarding crossing the comfort gap, but this weeks reminder is simple: take a break, enjoy the process and recognize the beauty of your journey thus far.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Today I had to remind myself that not every run needs to be done with the pressure of measuring progress.

Sometimes the lesson just happens from being in the moment — today, for me, it was enjoying the movement, appreciating the quiet, and respecting the process itself.

Please don’t forget that crossing the comfort gap also means learning to appreciate the journey while you’re on it.

Please pray for me - know of my prayers for you!

God bless and be well!

Hi friends,

Fear will always try to keep you comfortable, quiet, safe, and stuck where nothing changes. It can feel overwhelming. It can distort reality. It can convince you of things that aren’t true - but know that fear is not strange, rare or even permanent - It’s just simply human. The Bible repeats the phrase “Do not be afraid” in many forms over a hundred times — not because fear is overly important, but because it’s a part of the journey that we all call “life”.

To overcome fear, one of the skills you will have to develop is ‘confidence’. However, confidence itself isn’t built by avoiding fear - It’s built on three pillars developed while navigating through it:

• Composure — staying grounded when life feels uncertain
• Courage — moving forward even while fear is present
• Curiosity — asking, “what could my life become if I step beyond this fear?”

Even Peter — the man Jesus looked at and said, “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church”, was not without fear - he himself had to grow through it - think about the story of Peter stepping off of the boat during the storm (Matthew 14: 22-33).

Friends - don’t let fear define your limits - It’s part of the adventure that comes with being a human.

Please pray for me - know of my prayers for you!

God bless and be well!

Hi friends,

Question for you all: Have you ever lost sense of time in the morning after pouring a fresh, hot cup of coffee? Did you eventually take a sip of it only to realize it’s gone cold?

It still looks like coffee. It still has caffeine. It’s still in the same mug. It still gets the job done… but it’s missing the warmth that it started with.

People can be like that too sometimes.

People can still show up, they can still get through the day, they can still look the same…. But sometimes those people are quietly feeling exhausted, disconnected, and/or emotionally drained - having lost the warmth they once felt.

This Mental Health Awareness Month here’s your reminder: just because someone looks to be okay doesn’t mean they feel okay. Perhaps that ‘someone’ is you, or a friend, or a family member. Be gentle with yourself and check in on your people. ☕

Here are two pictures of me from over the years - one is a cold cup of coffee and the other is a warm cup of coffee. Not much of a difference from the outside, but from within… it’s a man living in two separate realities. (**Spoiler alert - the outdoor picture is the cold cup of coffee**)

You’re never alone in the battle. As I prepare for my ultramarathon later in August by crossing my own comfort gap, I encourage you to look for ways to cross your comfort gap too.

Please pray for me - know of my prayers for you!

God bless and be well!
