πΊπΈ WE WILL NEVER FORGET β SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 πΊπΈ
Twenty-five years have passed, yet there are moments from that September morning that remain forever etched into the heart of our nation.
For many, we remember exactly where we were when we heard the news. We remember watching in disbelief. We remember the fear, the heartbreak, and the uncertainty.
We remember the 2,977 lives taken far too soon β mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, friends, coworkers, and neighbors who simply began that morning like any other.
We remember the firefighters who climbed up the stairs while others were running down.
We remember the police officers, paramedics, first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help complete strangers.
We remember the passengers and crew of Flight 93 whose extraordinary courage saved countless others.
And we remember what happened in the days that followed.
For a little while, there were no strangers.
American flags appeared on porches, businesses, overpasses, and front yards. Neighbors checked on neighbors. People stood in lines to donate blood. Churches filled. Communities gathered. We hugged our loved ones a little tighter.
We were reminded that even during one of our nation's darkest hours, there is incredible strength in standing together.
Today, 25 years later, may we remember not only how September 11 changed America, but also the compassion, courage, sacrifice, and unity that followed.
Here in Marquette Heights, we ask our community to take a moment today to remember those who left home on September 11, 2001 and never returned, the families who have carried their absence every day since, and the first responders and service members whose lives were forever changed by what happened that day and in the years that followed.
May we never become too busy to remember.
May we never take an ordinary morning with the people we love for granted.
May we never forget the heroes.
May we never forget the lives lost.
And may we never forget September 11, 2001. β€οΈπ€π
πΊπΈ We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
