The 2026 High School Cadet Scholarship Program is accepting applications through May 30, 2026. Five cadets will receive a $3,000 scholarship plus an all-expenses-paid trip to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Safety Symposium.

Bethel Road VFD and Cox’s Store VFD are bringing in
The Oklahoma Forestry Service to teach- S130, S190, and L180 Wildland classes.

These are the classes needed to gain Firefighter Type 2- Crew Member status with the National Wildlife Coordinating Group (NWCG).

It is a weekend class scheduled for June 5th, 6th, and 7th. It will be starting Friday June 5th at 6:00pm.
The class will be held at the Central High Community Center for Friday and Saturday. Location for the Sunday outside portion is TBD.
Refreshments will be provided everyday, as well as Lunch will be provided Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday will be the skills portion of the test consisting of using hand tools to cut fire lines, timed fire shelter deployments, and a work capacity test.

The work capacity test consists of walking 3 miles in 45 minutes with a 45 pound weighted vest.

This class is a great hands on class and can be physically demanding to complete. With successful completion, ICS(100, and 700)

City of Duncan is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

The City of Duncan Police Department is accepting applications for Police Officer. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications, including a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, good physical condition, no felony convictions, and being between the ages of 21 and 45.

Police Officers perform patrol duties, respond to calls for service, make arrests, investigate crimes and traffic collisions, issue citations, testify in court, and work with the community to help resolve problems.

Officers may have the opportunity to apply for specialized assignments such as K-9, Criminal Investigations, SWAT, Traffic Enforcement, and School Resource Officer. Applications are available through the City of Duncan job listings.
