🚨 UPDATE: Highway 6 Reopened 🚨

State Highway 6 north of Marlin has now been reopened to traffic.

Thank you to everyone for your patience while emergency crews worked the accident scene. We also appreciate everyone who slowed down and gave first responders the space they needed to work safely.

Please continue to use caution whenever you encounter emergency vehicles on the roadway. A reminder that one of our firefighters was struck by a passing vehicle’s mirror during this incident. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured, but it serves as an important reminder that inattentive driving can have serious consequences.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT – Texas Highway 6 Northbound 🚨

Texas Highway 6 northbound, just north of Marlin, is currently COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN due to a traffic accident.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route until the scene has been cleared. Expect significant delays.

⚠️ A reminder to everyone traveling through emergency scenes: Slow down, stay alert, and move over whenever possible. Emergency responders are working just feet away from moving traffic.

Today, one of our firefighters was struck by the mirror of a passing vehicle due to an inattentive driver. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured and is doing okay. The driver that struck her was subsequently transported to jail. This serves as a powerful reminder that a moment of distraction can have life-changing consequences.

* Move over when it’s safe to do so.
* Put your phone down and stay focused on the road.
* Follow the directions of emergency personnel.

I would like to thank each and every one of you that took time out of your day to come and support our fire department today. Most of our fundraisers are drive thru and we don’t really get to connect and talk to the people we serve. Today’s event gave us a chance to fellowship with some of you that dined in. We truly appreciate the community support. We have a group of dedicated members that truly do care about the communities that we serve. I have been a member of Marlin VFD for well over two decades and have never seen the community support that we saw today!!!! It was absolutely amazing!!! We are already planning for a bigger and more amazing BBQ Lunch next year. This event was originally started by the folks of Reagan VFD and then we combined and decided to continue their tradition. Our hope is that it continues to grow more every year…Thank YOU ALL to our supporters, sponsors and our members…without either of you we would be NOTHING!!!!
