AgriLife Extension has released a new fact sheet to help swine producers prepare for and protect against the potentially devastating New World screwworm.

The fact sheet provides research-based information on risk factors, prevention steps and reporting guidance for the swine industry to respond quickly if cases are suspected.

Just like livestock and wildlife, companion animals are also susceptible to New World screwworm (NWS), especially if they spend a lot of time outside.

Whether you are in a NWS-infested zone or not, the TAHC recommends all owners monitor their companion animals for suspicious wounds and signs of NWS.
