Marlborough Conservation Commission

Marlborough Conservation Commission Mission:
The Conservation Commission's mission is to protect the natural resources of Marlborough, including both the wetlands and natural open spaces.

Tasks include administering the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, undertaking land acquisition, managing conservation land, and offering public education and participation on environmental issues. Open space increases the quality of life for all residents: a healthy environment provides clean water, clean air, recreation, and increased property values. Protecting land around water supplies he

lps to keep our drinking water clean. The Commission permits and oversees the construction of projects within 100 feet of wetlands, or 200 feet from rivers, to ensure that the wetlands are protected from siltation or contamination due to the adjacent construction. Members:
The Conservation Commission is a seven (7) member board of dedicated volunteers appointed by the Mayor. Meetings:
The Commission meets the first and third Thursdays of every month starting at 7:00 pm.

By Marlborough Trails Committee
Following
Part of the Walks and Wonders in Marlborough collection
Balls Hill Road Concord, MA
Sunday, Mar 22 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am
Overview
Take an early spring walk at Audbuon's Brewster Woods as we look for a variety of raptors, waterfowl and early spring migrants.
Mass Audubon's Brewster's Woods Wildlife Sanctuary features mixed forests, meadows, and riverside habitats creating the perfect spot for early spring birding.
We’ll hike the sanctuary to look for woodpeckers, raptors, and various species of waterfowl and possibly some early spring migrants.
Maybe an American Woodcock will grace us with an appearance?!?
The terrain will vary but will remain mostly level with some moderate inclines.
Dress for the weather. Boots recommended.
As always, Beginners are encouraged to join us!
Limited loaner binoculars available.
We will meet at the main parking area (slight left off Balls Hill Road following Mass Audubon signs).
From Mass Audubon: "When you reach a set of three mailboxes ( #165/203/221), turn left into our driveway."
