On Friday April 24, the Marlboro Fire Company was dispatched to a reported brush fire to the rear of a residence on Ottawa Road South.

Chief 28-1-66 arrived on location simultaneously with State Forest Fire Service Unit B-10 and established command, reporting a working brush fire with visible smoke conditions and active fire spreading through the rear yard and into adjacent properties.
First-due units initiated an aggressive fire attack, deploying handlines to contain the forward progress of the fire. Due to the rate of spread and exposure concerns, a mutual aid request was transmitted for Robertsville Fire Company to assist with suppression operations.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the main body of fire and contain the perimeter within minutes. Crews remained on scene for an extended period conducting overhaul operations, as large logs and debris piles in the rear yard continued to burn and required extensive extinguishment.

We would like to thank the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Co. #1 for their rapid response and continued partnership. Incidents like this highlight the importance of coordinated mutual aid operations. We also extend our appreciation to State Forest Fire Service Unit B-10 for their immediate on-scene assistance.

Great work by all companies operating.

The Marlboro Fire Company would like to extend our sincere thanks to our mutual aid partners, Robertsville Volunteer Fire Co. #1 and Marlboro Emergency Medical Services, for their participation in a highly successful joint motor vehicle extrication drill last week.

This hands-on training evolution focused on strengthening inter-agency communication, refining teamwork, and enhancing our overall operational effectiveness on the fireground. Conducting these drills in a controlled environment allows our members to critique, improve, and learn from one another, ensuring seamless coordination when faced with real-world emergencies where seconds count.

A special thank you to Boyce’s Towing (64 U.S. 9, Morganville) and Marlboro Auto Body (13 Vanderburg Rd, Marlboro) for their continued support. Their generous donation of vehicles, along with delivery and removal, plays a critical role in making this type of realistic training possible. We frequently work side-by-side with these businesses during motor vehicle accidents, and we greatly appreciate their partnership.

Training like this ensures we remain prepared, proficient, and ready to serve our community together

Call Before You Dig

Know What's Below and Call Before You Dig - 811 or 800-272-1000.
It’s FREE and it’s the LAW.

Excavation damage is the leading cause of serious natural gas pipeline incidents. Careless digging can damage underground utilities, causing disruption of vital services, property damage and even possible injury. Taking the proper steps to avoid damage can prevent expensive repairs, project delays and costly fines.

This week, the Marlboro Fire Company proudly recognizes and celebrates National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week : honoring the dedicated dispatchers who are the calm voice in the chaos and the first link in every emergency response.

Marlboro Township is proud to maintain its in-house dispatch center, a decision rooted in what matters most, the safety of our residents.

Our local dispatchers bring:
• Unmatched local knowledge: understanding our roads, neighborhoods, and community
• Faster response times: answering 911 calls directly without delays or transfers
• Strong working relationships: seamless communication with our police, fire, and EMS personnel
• Reliability during major incidents: remaining operational when larger systems may be overwhelmed
• A dedicated focus on Marlboro: ensuring every call receives the attention it deserves
• Integrated local services: monitoring alarms and municipal systems unique to our township

We are especially proud to recognize two of our own:
🔥 FF Lorenz, a Life Member of the fire company and with 18 years of service as a dispatcher
🔥 FF Calhoun, who is off to a strong start in his dispatching career

Your professionalism, dedication, and commitment do not go unnoticed. Thank you to the entire Marlboro Township Police communication staff, the Marlboro Fire Company appreciates your service !

The Marlboro Fire Company recently welcomed Redline Gear Cleaning to our firehouse for on-site turnout gear cleaning and repairs. Their crew arrived with a fully equipped commercial box truck and repair trailer, set up workstations, removed and organized members’ gear, completed advanced cleaning and repairs, and returned everything directly to each firefighter’s locker, all in one day.

This efficient process kept our company IN SERVICE while helping us stay compliant with NFPA 1851, which requires routine advanced cleanings and proper decontamination of bunker gear.

Firefighters face increased cancer risks from exposure to smoke, chemicals, and other carcinogens. Services like this play an important role in reducing those risks and protecting our members.

Thank you to Redline Gear Cleaning for their professionalism and commitment to firefighter safety.
