Hey folks!

We had a busy summer and wanted to update you on what's been happening at the farm! Due to an unseasonably cold June the harvest took a hit, but we still had some lovely plants sprouting (the bush beans and garlic were particularly fruitful). In the greenhouse we had a lot of happy basil, spinach, parsley, and more!

We now have a nifty Farm Handbook for Farm Committee and farm employees with lots of nifty tips from what we learned this summer. We've also named the beds and the greenhouse. A map with names will be posted in the the greenhouse and signage is in the works. Additionally, we're finished with the root cellar which will be up and running this school year!

As the farm moves forward we're hoping to make the greenhouse, aka Skylab, more of a community space to hold events i.e. potlucks. It will also become the meeting place of the Farm Committee which will take a more hands on approach on the farm this school year.

Keep an eye out for the Farm at the Marlboro Fair this year. We'll also have some projects going for Fall Workday. Last but not least, we're hoping to use the campus apples to make some sweet treats during Apple Days this autumn!

We hope you got a chance to say hi to our blossoming friends in the flower boxes outside the greenhouse on your way back up to campus!

Love from,
Your farm friends 🌱

Hello! We wanted to give some updates about has happened on the farm so far since the end of the semester, so here it goes!

1. One of the issues we noticed is there isn't much cataloging in terms of what has happened on the farm in previous years. We are taking notes as we go to help the next farming generation understand what has happened previously. We are also creating a "Getting Started" guide specifically so that people have an idea of where to start.

2. We are currently getting the soil ready to start planting. Kristen is creating a lovely intercropping garden map. We started putting composted manure and lime pellets down. We hope to start planting very soon!

3. We bought a collection tank for the Rich Earth Institute! They are doing some really cool work turning urine into fertilizer down in Brattleboro, and we thought it would be cool to support their mission.

If anyone wants to swing by the farm and get their hands dirty, feel free! We'd love to see some new or familiar faces.
