On Patriot Day, Avoyelles Parish Schools joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered tragedy with extraordinary bravery.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the lives, the sacrifice, and the unity that followed.

Know Where Their Bus Is with 𝗡𝗙𝗧 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽!

APS families can use the 𝗡𝗙𝗧 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽 to stay connected to their child's school bus information.

📍 Track your child's bus location
🎒 See when your student boards and exits the bus
📱 Access important transportation information right from your phone

How does it work?
Students scan their ID badge when boarding and exiting the bus. That's why it is very important for students to bring their ID badge to school every day.

🔑 Parents, you'll also need your student's registration code to log in and connect your student in the Parent View app. Be sure to keep this information handy when setting up your account.

THE VISION IS TAKING SHAPE!

If you’ve driven by the future Avoyelles Community Education Center (ACEC) in Bunkie lately, you may have noticed a big change: the buildings are taking shape!

Just months after breaking ground, the framework of this major investment in education and workforce development is beginning to rise, giving our community its first real look at what’s ahead.

When completed, ACEC will create new opportunities for high school students, adult learners, local businesses, and our entire community, bringing education, workforce training, and industry together under one roof.

Construction remains on schedule for completion in December 2026, with the first classes anticipated to begin in January 2027.

Keeping our schools safe takes all of us. Avoyelles Parish Schools is launching APS Safety Spotlight, a monthly series designed to help families better understand school safety procedures, emergency communication, preparedness, and the important role we all play in keeping students safe.

This month’s spotlight: 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗

During an emergency or unexpected situation, accurate information matters. APS may communicate with families through JCampus messages, text and email alerts, the district website, social media, and other official communication channels.

Families can help by keeping phone numbers, email addresses, emergency contacts, and authorized pickup information up to date. During an emergency, monitor official APS communication channels and wait for instructions before traveling to a school or reunification location.

Information circulating through texts or social media may be incomplete while a situation is unfolding. Always look to official APS communications for confirmed information and instructions.

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR APS FAMILIES & STUDENTS

Louisiana law regarding ma*****na on and near school campuses changed effective August 1, 2026. We want our students, families, and community members to understand what the new law means.

Under Act 305 of the 2026 Regular Session, ma*****na possession on school property, within 2,000 feet of school property, or on a school bus can carry serious criminal consequences, including up to one year of imprisonment and a fine of up to $1,000.

The law also addresses smoking or va**ng controlled dangerous substances in these areas, including THC v**e pens.

For students in grades 6–12, school disciplinary consequences are separate from criminal consequences. A first occurrence involving ma*****na may result in a recommendation for expulsion. A second or subsequent occurrence requires expulsion for at least two complete school semesters and referral to the district attorney.

📌 Students and families: Please take a few minutes to review the information in the graphic and talk about the consequences of bringing, possessing, smoking, or va**ng ma*****na or THC products at or near school.

Keeping our schools safe requires everyone to know the law and make responsible choices.

Our students continue to SHOW UP!

Every APS school remains above our 94% attendance goal, with year-to-date attendance rates ranging from 95.62% to 98.67%. That’s something worth celebrating!

A special shoutout to Louisiana School for the Agricultural Sciences, leading the district with an impressive 98.67% attendance rate!

Consistent attendance matters. Each day in school gives students another opportunity to learn, connect, grow, and achieve. Thank you to our families for helping make getting to school a priority.

NOW HIRING: FOOD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Avoyelles Parish Schools is accepting applications for a Food Service Technician to join our team!

We’re looking for someone who understands the importance of a quality school food service program and is ready to help create a safe, welcoming environment for our students. Experience in food service is desirable.

Application Deadline: Friday, September 18, 2026, by 3:00 p.m.

Applications may be obtained at the Avoyelles Parish School Board Office, 221 Tunica Drive West, Marksville or online at www.avoyellespsb.com/employment.

Families, please take time to review your child’s progress, celebrate accomplishments and discuss any areas where additional support may be needed.

Remember, you can use the JCampus Student Progress Center app to monitor your child’s grades and attendance throughout the school year. Staying informed and connected helps keep students on the path to success!
