Marksville City Police Department would like to congratulate our new sheriff of Avoyelles Parish into office. Sheriff David Dauzat and Chief Deputy Ryan Quebedeaux, Chief Elster Smith and Assistant Chief Jason Brouillette of the Marksville Police Department welcome you as Sheriff and Chief Deputy. 3 arrested in the 2019 murder of Baracus Greenhouse. 1 suspect still at large.

In November of 2019 Marksville City Police responded to a unresponsive male subject. Officer's arrived on scene to find Baracus Greenhouse of Legion Dr. Marksville deceased from several gunshot wounds to the body. After several long months of investigation Marksville City Detectives Division arrested 29 year old Jacoby Austin, 41 year old David Voorhies and 18 year old Tykwuan Malbrough all of Marksville. All three suspects were later booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail on a $1 million dollar bond.
A fourth suspect is wanted in connection to the murder. Eric Myre 32 maybe still in the Marksville or Simmesport area of the Parish! Detectives are asking if anyone knows the whereabouts or sees Myre to call the Marksville City Police Department at 318-253-9250

Marksville burglary arrest made!

Marksville road units were dispatched to Home Hardware for a burglary that occurred sometime in the early morning hours of April 11th, 2020. The store manager and employees noticed several items taken from the warehouse. Video surveillance captured Chance Hemingway (23) and Justen Planette (61) both of Marksville, burglarizing the warehouse. Marksville Detectives obtained arrest warrants and both subject were taken into custody on Ferdinand St. without incident. All items taken from the business was returned as of Saturday afternoon.

ARRESTED!

Marksville City Police Detectives Division has made an arrest on Deondrake Guillot 21 of Marksville. Guillot was charged with armed robbery in the connection to the armed robbery of Check into Cash on Friday April 3rd. A second suspect is also wanted in the robbery. Detectives are asking the public for any information to the whereabouts of Joseph Barton also of Marksville. Barton is to be considered armed and dangerous! Detectives are asking public to call 911 or (318)253-9250 if seen.

Marksville City Police is currently working an investigation of an armed robbery that occurred at the Check Into Cash located at 7150 Hwy 1 Marksville.
At 1208 Marksville City Dispatch was notified of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the location. Marksville City Police were then notified of the suspected vehicle that the suspects used to leave the scene of the robbery,had been set on fire off of Sookie Roy Rd. Mansura.
Suspects are described as being both black males wearing face masks and wigs. Subjects left the area in an white in color Ford SUV headed in the direction of CoCoville Rd Mansura. MPD Detectives Division is asking for any information on the robbery to call 318-253-9250 and ask to speak with a Detective. Or leave a message on our Face Book page.

*****Curfew Alert beginning April 3rd 2020 (Tomorrow)*****

Avoyelles Parish has officially declared a curfew in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The following declarations were issued by the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury on Thursday, April 2.

For adults, the hours will exist between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. For minors, the hours are from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. However, if the minor is in the company of an adult, the 10 p.m. deadline applies.

This curfew will begin on Friday, April 3 and will remain in effect every day until the emergency declaration issued by Gov. John Bel Edwards for the state comes to an end.

The exception to the curfew hours will apply those working in what are deemed essential businesses. This applies to those employees traveling to or leaving said businesses.

Marksville City Police will give warnings to those that violate this curfew and citations may be issued if there is no valid reason for the violation. Offenders are subject to a $500 fine and/or six months in jail.

Any medical emergency travel is permitted.

ARRESTED! Travis Warren

On March 4th,2020 Marksville City Detectives Division along with road officers located Warren wanted for several outstanding warrants. Warren wanted for simple burglary, criminal damage to property and assault with a deadly weapon, was located on Brouillette St. Warren attempted to run from Detectives but was unsuccessful. Warren was also in possession of a 40 caliber handgun located in his waistband. Warren was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail on his warrants and illegal carrying of a weapon.

ARRESTED!!

Marksville Road Officers and Detectives make arrest on Lyndell Joseph of Laplace La. Joseph made terrorizing threats toward his girlfriend and girlfriends mother on Valentines Day. Joseph was charged with the following.
Cyber Stalking, Telephone Harassment, Terrorizing, Simple Assault, Unauthorized Entry of a residence, Theft of a motor vehicle and Simple criminal damage to property.
Joseph was arrested inside a residence after officer noticed the vehicle he was driving pull into that residence located off Green Street. Joseph ran into the residence where he surrendered to officers without incident. Joseph was booked in the Avoyelles Parish Jail.

ARRESTED!!!
Agnes Bradford of Marksville was arrested by Marksville Detectives on one ct. of Armed Robbery and two ct's. of Contributing to juvenile. Detectives during investigation determined that Bradford orchestrated the robbery of a local business man. Bradford was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Jail on a $250,000 bond.
