Big Loss to Madison County!

Madison County has lost another great man and first responder, Darrell Brizendine. It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of his passing.

Darrell Brizendine was not only a dedicated first responder but also a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many in our communities. His commitment to serving others and his unwavering dedication to his profession made him an exceptional man. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

During his time as a first responder, Darrell Brizendine displayed immense dedication and selflessness. He consistently went above and beyond the call of duty, putting the needs of others before his own. His contributions to the safety and well-being of Madison County cannot be overstated.

Darrell Brizendine's loss leaves a void in our county that will be difficult to fill. His absence will be felt by his colleagues, friends, and all those who relied on his expertise and compassion. We are grateful for the time we had with him and the positive impact he made on our lives.

As we mourn the loss of this great man, let us also remember the legacy he leaves behind. Darrell Brizendine's dedication to his profession and his unwavering commitment to helping others serve as an inspiration to us all. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.

My last day until retirement! Thanks Markleville! This isnt goodbye.......its see you later! I want to thank the Markleville Town Board for working with me the last 7+ years on making the Markleville Police Department what it is today! My hopes are that this will give the new Chief a good start in this position that I have dearly loved! The acting chief will be Ron Allen who is also an instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy so you will be in good hands until the new chief is named probably sometime in July!
Sincerely, Chief Tim Basey

Hello!
I want everyone to know that I have thoroughly enjoyed being your Chief for the town of Markleville over the last 7+ years! We have established a Safe Haven, Speed Signs, Speed Humps, Crosswalk across Main Street, Little Library and a new Evidence Room. We also computerized all of our files and reports among many other updates to make our little town a safer place to live and enjoy!
Unfortunately this February it was discovered that I have stage 3 Esophageal Cancer. After consultation with my doctors and my family I have decided to step down from my position effective June 30th. I have underwent Chemotherapy, Radiation and next an invasive surgery to try and give me a chance at living a normal life!
I wanted to remain at the Markleville Police Department to complete 40 years in law enforcement. God has other plans! God wants me to enjoy life a little!
I hope to have somehow put my own spin on the direction this department is going! Considering all that we have completed in the short time I would say it was a success! I will leave this department with a group of guys that want nothing more than to serve their community and keep them safe!
Thanks again to the good folks of Markleville! The Town Board Members I have worked with (past and present)! I will still call Markleville my home and love the town that I have been a part of since I was 9 years old!
Sincerely, Chief Tim Basey
