🚓❤️ Prepared for Every Emergency ❤️🚓

Being prepared for all types of emergencies is part of our job, and yesterday that preparation helped save a young life.

Mariposa County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call involving a 16-month-old child who was choking. Several years ago, the Sheriff made the decision to invest in DeCHOKER devices and place one in every patrol vehicle, hoping we would never need to use them.

Yesterday, that investment proved invaluable.

When deputies arrived, the child was turning blue and was not breathing. Using the DeCHOKER device, deputies performed one suction pull, which successfully dislodged the object blocking the child's airway.

Thanks to quick action, training, and having the right equipment available, a 16-month-old child's life was saved.

We are grateful that this little one is now safe. Moments like these remind us why preparedness matters and why we continue investing in tools and training that help us serve and protect our community.

🚨 MET TEAM BACK IN ACTION 🚨

As illegal ma*****na cultivation season gets underway, the Mariposa County Ma*****na Enforcement Team (MET) is back in action.

On Sunday, MET investigators served search warrants at two properties located on Hirsch Road and Old Yosemite Road in the Coulterville/Greeley Hill area. During the operation, investigators eradicated 3,173 illegal ma*****na plants, seized 7 fi****ms, and recovered a small amount of m**hamphetamine.

These were not small personal grows. Illegal ma*****na cultivation in Mariposa County is often tied to sophisticated, cartel-style drug trafficking organizations that operate outside the law, damage our environment, steal natural resources, and bring crime into our rural communities.

The seizure of seven fi****ms highlights the dangerous nature of these operations. Weapons in the hands of drug trafficking organizations pose a significant threat to law enforcement officers, neighboring residents, and the public. We are especially proud to have removed these fi****ms from circulation and out of our communities, making Mariposa County a safer place for everyone.

The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office remains committed to aggressively targeting illegal ma*****na cultivation and the criminal organizations behind it.

⚠️ To those operating illegal ma*****na gardens in Mariposa County: We are coming. Our investigators are actively working throughout the county, and we will continue to identify, investigate, and dismantle illegal grow operations wherever they exist.

The MINT Team was back in action this week in the Coulterville and Greeley Hill areas, continuing efforts to keep our communities safe.

As a result of proactive enforcement, deputies removed multiple fi****ms from the hands of some felons, seized approximately 47.5 grams of m**hamphetamine, recovered multiple m**h pipes and other drug paraphernalia, and made two arrests.

Great work by the MINT Team, our focus remains the same with a continued commitment to reducing crime and holding offenders accountable. Every illegal firearm and dangerous drug removed from our streets helps make Mariposa County a safer place for everyone.
