This has been a productive year for Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa County. At long last we began construction of our newest house on Stroming Road in Mariposa. We started the year having selected a very deserving Mariposa family and having approvable plans for a 3 bedroom/2 bath house for them. Although our selected family had to withdraw due to a change in their circumstances, the Habitat board chose to move forward with house construction, having faith that we would find a way. Through the hard work and generosity of local contractors and vendors we end the year with a fully framed, roofed and windowed structure shown below, and we're in the process of selecting a new homeowner family. Our next challenge is to find funding to finance a mortgage for the house, now that governmental programs to finance low income rural housing have been all but eliminated. We look to the generosity of the Mariposa community in 2026 to help us continue our efforts to build homes for deserving families.

We've selected partner families for our Mariposa and Coulterville sites. The Mariposa site on Stroming Rd. is shown below. We hope to start construction soon!

Ben Goger is passing the gavel to Seth Porter, after serving a three-year term as President of the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Mariposa. Habitat is grateful for having had Ben's leadership and wisdom to move their affiliate forward in continuing their mission to provide decent, affordable housing for those in need. As Seth takes over, his efforts will be focused on building the next two Habitat houses with one in Mariposa and the other in Coulterville. Habitat is looking forward to experiencing great success with Seth's leadership. Habitat thanks both of these gentlemen for their dedication to the mission of Habitat.

July is the month to apply for a Habitat for Humanity home in Mariposa County. Two families will be chosen: one for a property off of Stroming Road in Mariposa and one in Coulterville. Think of what this could mean for you and your family and get back to us at 209 966-7444 with questions. Applications may be picked up at Health and Human Services in Mariposa or Coulterville or at the Mariposa Library. See poster for more information.

They were unable to open, due to the big storm, during our Dining-Out Event in early March. Thanks, Nate, for donating 10% of your proceeds to Habitat on the 21st! We appreciate your support!
