The Marion Department of Public Works has engaged with the contractor Wilkinson Ecological Design, Inc., to complete the Sprague’s Cove Stormwater Retention Basin - Invasive Species Management (Project). The Project includes selective and targeted herbicide application for invasive vegetative species, and mowing and removal of said species at the site (MassDEP File No. SE 41-1316).

The Project will begin during the week of June 15th and will continue periodically through the summer. The upcoming work is part of a three year plan to eradicate the invasive vegetative species. Schedule and completion of all work is subject to change due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

The Sprague’s Cove Stormwater Retention Basin will be open to the public for the duration of the Project, except during vegetation mowing and removal activities. The DPW will place barriers at the access points to the Sprague’s Cove Stormwater Retention Basin during these activities to indicate that the area is closed to the public at that time. We urge the public to please be mindful of any construction equipment and construction work that will occur periodically.

Please contact the DPW should you have any questions: (508) 748-3540 Monday – Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM. For emergencies outside of the regular DPW office hours, please contact the Police Department and they will relay any concerns to the appropriate Town Department: (508) 748-1212. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
