This was done in collaboration with Local 2134. What a great addition to honor our retirees. Since we have been asked the criteria to be on the board
1. Be a Full Time Firefighter for MTFD
2.Be a member of Local 2134
3. Have at least 15 years of service vested with Ohio Police & Fire Pension System
4. Retire from MTFD
5. L.O.D.D with MTFD
Thank you to everyone who made this happen.!
The Marion Township Fire Department retirement board was the idea of Firefighter Jeff Ralston. FF Ralston came to Chief Thomas and asked if this was a good idea. Of course the answer was yes, anytime we can honor our past members for their service to the department, we should. FF Ralston showed the idea to his father who spearheaded the project. Mr. Ralston put hours into researching a material list and possible donors. Contact made with the VFW 7201 on State Route 4 (Located in Marion Twp) and Mr. Ralston put together a presentation to present the project ideas and costs associated. The VFW graciously agreed to fund the project. Mr. Ralston then made contact with Mid State Contractors Inc. located on Cascade Dr. (Located in Marion Twp). Mid State agreed to make and install the board.
Research was done by the department to make an accurate list of past members who have retired. After the list was compiled, Lt Hollenbaugh contacted a company to have name plates made with the retiree’s name on them.
The completed board is proudly displayed in the bay at Station #1. Marion Twp. would like to send a sincere thank you to Mr. Larry Ralston, VFW 7201, MidState Contractors, Firefighter Jeff Ralston, and Lieutenant Darrin Hollenbaugh.
