Today, Nucor Steel Marion made a donation to the Marion Fire Department to purchase additional rope rescue equipment. This same rope rescue system is already in use at the Nucor facility, and through training and use of this new equipment will enable our firefighters to perform the most seamless job possible should a confined space incident arise at the Nucor facility. We are absolutely blown away by the selflessness of Kevin Huften, a retired military veteran and retired firefighter. He recently donated $7000 to the Marion Fire Department.
His amazing gift will sponsor one of our firefighters to attend paramedic school, bringing advanced life-saving skills back to the streets of Marion. Even in retirement, Kevin’s the passion and appreciation for the fire service continues to shine bright.
Thank you again, Kevin, for your lifelong dedication to keeping others safe. Your legacy lives on in the next generation of first responders.
