Good morning Franklin County Junior Firefighter followers!!

The storm yesterday may have forced the Cadets indoors, but the training didn’t stop! Before the rain hit, Cadets moved indoors to practice gear drills to finish out the day.

Day three, our final day, will focus on truck company operations. The Cadets will particiapte in a classroomom session this morning, followed by rotations through several hands on skill stations including ladder throws, building searches, forcible entry, and some vertical ventilation practice.

After lunch, the Cadets will focus on putting all of their training from the weekend together. They will be practicing some drills to help reinforce all that they have learned.

Near the close of the day, the Cadets will be showcasing their skills through a live drill exercise followed by their graduation!

We have a busy day ahead of us, but everyone here is ready to get started!

Good afternoon Franklin County Junior Firefighter followers!!

Day two is off to a productive start! This morning Cadets learned the importance of fitness and nutrition, dove into engine company operations, practiced different hose loads, were informed about fire behavior and building construction factors, and flowed water after practing handline advancements! Lunch is currently being prepared while the Cadets discuss how they are going to design and make their class flag. After lunch, the Cadets will resume practicing engine company operations through practical skill stations and continue to expand their knowledge in the fire service.

🔥2025 Franklin County Junior Firefighter Academy is off to a great start despite the gloomy weather!🔥

Cadets have already been through CPR and first aid training, as well as Stop the Bleed! A classroom introduction about PPE and SCBA has concluded and the Cadets are off to lunch. After lunch, they are set to do a Metro Walk, learn their ropes and knots, work through a maze, learn about hand tools, and discuss emergency operations.

Thank you to all our staff who have volunteered their time in order to make today a success for our Cadets!!

*2024 Junior Firefighter Academy Update*

The Academy will be held July 21st-July 27th.

Registration will be opening MAY 1st for both in-county and out-of-county Cadets. Don't waste time registering, registration will be closing MAY 15th.

Staff are looking forward to seeing you join us for a week of fun, learning, and camaraderie!
