Medication abortion—most often a two-pill combination of mifepristone and misoprostol—has become the backbone of abortion care across the country, accounting for about 63% of all abortions in 2023. A new bill from Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), backed by Sen. Ted Budd (R-NC), would revoke the FDA’s approval of mifepristone for abortion and effectively ban its use nationwide, even in states where abortion remains legal.

For North Carolinian Charlotte Isenberg, access to mifepristone for a self-managed medication abortion meant the difference between being forced to stay pregnant with no aid and becoming the first in her family to attend college—and her story isn’t unique.

Is there a word for being both happy for them and also shocked that this was prohibited until 2026?

Pregnant women in Missouri will soon no longer face legal obstacles while getting a divorce.

Gov. Mike Kehoe signed into law on Tuesday legislation that removes possible legal barriers for pregnant women seeking a divorce. Kehoe also signed a vast criminal justice bill and anti-sex trafficking legislation.
