That’s a wrap! To say this has been some of the best times of my career would be an understatement. These dogs can do incredible things and I like to think I have one of the best! Congratulations on your retirement buddy, now enjoy it!

With K9 Joker retiring at the end of this year, we wanted to get started with his replacement.

Meet K9 Shanel and Officer Ryan Kelly. K9 Shanel was purchased with monies received through generous donations and grants. AKC Reunite and the Marion K9 Project were the two organizations we received these monies from, we thank you.

K9 Shanel is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois, imported from France. She and Officer Kelly are currently in Training through Storm Dog Tactical. Once they complete their 6 weeks of training they will begin patrolling the City of Marion.

Joker and I made it to Indiana yesterday. We’re spending the week at the ATK9 (American Tactical K9) Conference. A week full of great training. Today is Tactical Canine Casualty Care presented by the Veterinary Tactical Group.

Jokers newest brother, K9 Ranger! We cannot wait for him to begin work and see the positive he will make.

We are happy to finally introduce Marion PD’s newest K9, Ranger. He and his handler, Lt Mark Elliott, certified yesterday and are officially a State Certified Police K9 Team. They will wrap up initial training today with Storm Dog Tactical and begin protecting the City of Marion in the coming days. Welcome to the family, and welcome to Marion, Ranger!

This past Tuesday Marion County had numerous requests for school sniffs. With the Sheriffs Office and the Police Department having K9 Teams in training, Joker and I reached out to our training group for help.

Thank you to Officer Kaiser & K9 Ari (Hilliard PD), Sgt Collins & K9 Laya (Mt Vernon PD), and Officer Graham & K9 Ollie (Delaware PD) for helping Deputy Staley & K9 Comet and I with conducting school sniffs for all of the schools in Marion County.
