McDowell County Public Library The McDowell County Public Library (NC) has 2 locations--Marion, NC and Old Fort, NC. A picture ID, preferably a valid drivers license, is suggested.

The Abe Simmons Genealogy & North Carolina History Room is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 5:30pm and also the 3rd Saturday of each month from 11am to 5pm, but closed for lunch from 12:30pm-1:30pm. Items in the Genealogy room are for reference only and may not be removed from the room. Anyone over the age of five who lives, works , goes to school, or owns property in McDowell County may re

gister to borrow materials. To get a library card, bring one form of identification with your correct mailing address to the circulation desk. Children under 17 will need the signature of a parent or legal guardian. People who live outside the county may get a library card by paying a fee of $15, renewable annually. Loan Periods:
New Books and Magazines- 14 days
DVDs- 7 days
All other items- 21 days

Limits:
Borrow as many items as you can use and return on time, with the exception of audiobooks and DVDs/videos which are limited to 7 per borrower. You may renew materials by telephone up to 4 times, if the items are not reserved. Children under 17 may borrow videos and DVDs if a signed parental consent form is on file. Overdue Fines:
Videos/DVDs- $1.00 per day per item
All other materials- $.10 per day per item

✨📚 It's a busy day tomorrow at the Marion Library!

At 1 PM we have our Podcast Club where we will discuss the episode "Matricide". If you enjoy true crime and fun discussions you can catch the episode on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and join us! It's sure to be a great time! 🎙✨ This program is for ages 18+

Up next at 4 PM we have Teen Time! We will be making fun critters out of air dry clay. You can create a cute animal, a goofy monster, or something completely unique, the possibilities are endless. Once the critter is complete, you'll get a little home for your new friend. ✨🫟 This program is for ages 12-18

🌿✨ Join us today at 4 PM for the adult craft! We'll be making charming walnut shell scenes using natural materials and a little creativity.

Can't make it at 4:00? Craft kits will be available for pickup from 5-7 PM this evening. Choose either a Walnut Scene kit or a Floating Terrarium kit from last week's craft. Just stop by the desk and ask. Available while supplies last and only one kit per person.

Both the in-person craft and take-home kits are for ages 18 and up.

🌿 Herbal Remedies Workshop 🌿

Join us for a special hands-on workshop with , who are traveling all the way from Tennessee to share their knowledge of traditional herbal remedies and natural wellness practices!

Participants will learn about traditional herbal remedies, discover the medicinal properties of common plant ingredients, create a custom fire cider blend to take home, and ask questions and learn from experienced herbal educators.
