What you're looking at is the prepared building pad for our new elementary schoolโ€”the foundation for the next chapter of Spartan education. While it may look like a lot of dirt today, this space will soon become a place where generations of students will learn, grow, and create lifelong memories.

Every great project starts with a strong foundation, and we're thrilled to watch this vision come to life. Stay tuned as we continue to share construction updates and celebrate milestones along the way!

๐Ÿ“Š Financial Fact Friday:

What does Pleasant Localโ€™s annual budget look like?

This fiscal year, Pleasant Local Schools will operate on a budget of approximately $35.5 million, which equates to roughly $97,260 per day. The budget will be inflated for the next 2 years as weโ€™re working through the co-funded OFCC Elementary project. We ended fiscal year 2025 closer to $24 million.

This funding supports daily operations, staff, transportation, and student programs, athletics, as well as long-term investments in facilities and improvements.
Understanding the size and scope of the budget helps provide a clearer picture of how resources support students each day.

๐Ÿ“Š Financial Fact Friday:

Where does Pleasant Localโ€™s funding come from?

School funding comes from a mix of local, state, and other revenue sources.
At Pleasant, local taxpayers provide a large share of the district's operating revenue, and that burden will continue to grow unless the state increases its support for public schools. Due to decisions by our state leaders, the Fair School Funding Plan still uses fiscal year 2021 cost inputs despite rising costs, meaning the state's current funding formula does not reflect the true cost of educating students today.

As a result, the district's share of state funding has decreased from about 45% five years ago to 32% this year, or about $2,882 per student. This trend is occurring across Ohio, which ranks 45th in the nation in public school support.
