Our Story

The century old tale of Ray Weishaar, a Class A Racing Champion in the 1910s and 1920s. Ray added a special marker to the map over Marion, Indiana when he took a lap around Marion’s International Motorcycle Race Track with a hog he was gifted from a local farmer. This lap earned the Harley team the nickname “The Hog Boys” and shortly after their large motorcycles were synonymous with hogs.

The Hog Daze event began in Marion, Indiana in 2009 and was hosted by Main Street Marion to promote the origination of the term “hog” as Home of the Hog. As the event grew, so did the changing of the hosts. In 2015, the non-profit organization, Indiana Motorcycle Preservation Society was founded to host the Hog Daze event and continue the history of Grant County’s Home of the Hog.

The purpose of the Indiana Motorcycle Preservation Society is to encourage the historical preservation of Indiana’s rich motorcycle history, the presentation thereof and to support continuing present and future motorcycle related events.

The Society promotes Home of the Hog through Hog Daze and supports motorcycle related industries, businesses and planning partners in the advancement of motorcycle related activities.
