Here is a quick reminder of why you shouldn’t swim in the quarry.

1. It is illegal to do so.

2. There are prehistoric beast living in there.🐢

Sometimes you never know what you will come across in our line of work. Check out this giant snapping turtle Officer Geurkink saved from being ran over after finding it sitting in the middle of Joseph St. He was able to safely release the turtle into the quarry away from the busy road.

We are proud to support the Special Olympics and specifically the athletes from Marion County. Last Friday members of the Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Office ran a leg of the Torch Run. Then Chief McDonald and Lt. Elliott and Ranger went to the opening ceremonies at the Ohio Stadium. Lt. Brown helped with the award ceremonies at the volleyball venue and got to award the team from Marion with their gold medals!!!! Congrats to all our Special Olympic athletes.

Please join us in celebrating the MPD anniversaries of six wonderful members of our team.

Officer Devin Mallory recently celebrated his two-year anniversary with the Marion Police Department.

Officers Mason Kent and Kegan Pelphrey reached the 5-year milestone with MPD.

Lt. Erica Delp and Officers Justin May and Matt Cochell all hit the 10-year mark with the Marion Police Department.

We are very proud of the great work done by these officers, and we are very thankful for their service. They have certainly made an on our community.

Members of the Marion Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff's Office Marion,OH will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run this morning at 0930.

We will leave MPD carrying the Flame of Hope at 0930 and run east on W. Church St. and then go south on Delaware Ave until we reach the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

This may cause some slight traffic issues, so please plan accordingly.
