Yesterday, East and West McDowell Middle Schools provided a healthy number of ensembles to perform and receive well-earned ratings from judges at the Western North Carolina SEMPA (Solo & Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication) Festival. Great job, everyone!!!

Congratulations to our Titan Band members who participated in the Western District Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication on Thursday, May 8th. Superior ratings were awarded to:

Dawson Jenkins and Malachi Williams for their soprano sax/clarinet duet.

Malachi Williams, Alexis Miniguano, Braelon Obar, and Dawson Jenkins for their clarinet quartet performance.

Dawson Jenkins and Ian Gardner for their bari sax/drums duet.

Amber Blue, Daniel Young, Logan Marler, and Dawson Jenkins for their saxophone quartet performance.

Daja Wilson for her flute solo.

Daniel Young for his tenor saxophone solo.

Excellent ratings were awarded to:

Abigail Fletcher for her tuba solo.

Hailey McGlamory for her trumpet solo.

Our Holiday Concert has been moved to McDowell High School's Auditorium. We still start at 7 PM and students still arrive by 6:20 to prepare. Come by for some concentrated Holiday goodness

This is a reminder that Middle School Band night has been moved to the Homecoming Game on October 4th. Do not show up expecting a game tonight. We will send home permission sheets with updated details next week. Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday! Tomorrow we have a group of students participating in the Black Mountain Christmas Parade. UPDATE: Meet at Black Mountain Elementary School (100 Flat Creek Rd. Black Mountain, NC 28711) by 2:30 with the group "Collins Center." The parade starts at 4:00 and ends at the intersection of West State Street and Cragmont.

Details have been sent with your student. Be sure to sign up on Remind.com or the Remind app to receive updates per the weather. If it's too rainy, I will try to notify you of a cancellation before you leave for the parade.
