It’s that time of year! Burn bans are back in effect effective today until the end of May.

This ban is necessary because in the spring and fall periods wildfire conditions are optimal due to dry vegetation, lower humidity and stronger winds.

Any burn between 6pm and 6am should be supervised at all times.

Dangerous cold is expected through this weekend across Northern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Wind chills could drop to -10 to -20 at times, increasing the risk for frostbite and hypothermia. Limit time outdoors, dress in layers, and check on vulnerable family, friends, and pets.

Roads are still a mess. Please do not travel unless it’s absolutely necessary!

This is a huge weather event. Locally another 3-8 inches is expected this evening. Please avoid travel unless absolutely necessary, as all of our surrounding counties are under a level 3.

Check on your neighbors, friends and any outside animals as the extreme cold will continue long after the snow is done.

Please stay safe!

Level 3. Please stay home and stay safe!

With the weather coming this weekend we recommend staying home as much as possible. However, we do know that is just not able to be done for everybody. If you NEED to drive in the snow this weekend, follow these safety tips below:

- Take your time! Drive at a speed that is comfortable to you, don't go faster than what you feel comfortable controlling.

- Have an emergency kit in your vehicle. Some inclusions for this kit can be a blanket, foods, water, first aid kit, a flashlight, gloves, hats, extra clothing, ice scrapers, sand/cat litter for tire traction, and anything else that you may feel is helpful if you get stranded.

- Give plows room to do their jobs!

Crawford is under a Level 1 Snow Alert. Rural roadways may be hazardous with blowing/drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Drive with Caution. CCSO
