Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor the courage of first responders, and recognize the strength and unity shown by Americans in the days that followed.

We also remember the families whose lives were forever changed.

On July 21st, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Marion Police Department responded to Willowbend Healthcare & Rehabilitation regarding a welfare check on an employee who had left the facility during her scheduled shift. Upon investigation, detectives determined that the employee had voluntarily left the facility with her boyfriend, later identified as Justin Rivera.
Using electronic location technology, Marion Police Detective John Dexter identified a possible location for the employee at a residence in Proctor. Detective Dexter immediately contacted the Crittenden County Communications Center and requested that deputies respond to the residence to conduct a welfare check.
As a direct result of Detective Dexter's prompt investigative efforts and coordination with the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office, the employee was located safely, and Justin Rivera was taken into custody.

The Marion Police Department has been made aware of an upcoming event planned for this weekend. This is to put the public on notice that the owner/landlord of this mall DID NOT approve this event, and due to liability reasons, doesn't want the public to show up and be disappointed when they are asked to leave. An event of this nature must go through the proper channels to be put on and this did not happen. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter! Everyone have a safe holiday weekend!

Residents are encouraged to step outside, look to the skies, and enjoy this patriotic tribute as part of the statewide celebration of America’s 250th!
