Marion County EMS is hiring paramedics and EMTs for a 24/72 schedule.

Starting salary is:
Paramedics $52,493/yr ($22.55/hr).
EMTs $41,247/yr ($17.72/hr)

In EMS, you work side by side with someone for 12 to 24 hours at a time. You go through the good, the bad and the ugly together. This in turn creates a family and a bond that cannot be broken.

We lost one of the greatest people you will ever meet. Phonesia was truly one of a kind. She came to Marion County EMS as a part time paramedic a short time ago, but created bonds that will last a lifetime. Phonesia didn’t stop there, every one of the patients she encountered, she treated like family.

We are devastated by the loss of Phonesia. We are going to miss her warm hugs, contagious laugh, bright and beautiful smile, and her compassion for others. We ask everyone to please keep her family, friends and EMS family in your thoughts and prayers.

Saturday will be warm and quite breezy across the eastern Carolinas, and a Wind Advisory is in effect for most of the area, with gusts of 40 to 50 mph possible. Showers and thunderstorms will move in from the west ahead of a cold front, and there is the potential for a few of the storms to produce severe weather. At this time, it appears the activity may reach the I-95 corridor as early as noon, then reach the coast between 3-5 pm. Stay weather aware on Saturday!

A marginal risk (level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms is possible today. After thunderstorms move offshore this morning, the main threat of storms will shift slightly southward through today. Forecast highs will be near 80, but cooler at the beaches. Winds will be out of the southwest 10 to 15 mph. Clouds will begin to break up from west to east through late this afternoon.

A stalled front will lead to a line of showers and storms moving through the area mainly this afternoon. The primary threat will be isolated damaging wind gusts. Rainfall totals will be above half an inch with locally higher amounts possible.
