A big thank you to Chenier’s Marinette Garden Center for providing us with the flowers for our flower beds.

Bill goes the extra mile every year, mapping out the locations of the plants he selects for us.

Thank you Bill for adding color to our station landscape!

Another phase of the Life Ring project on the Marinette side of the river is complete!

Six life ring stations were added to the Government Pier today.

Scott McIntyre and students from his Marinette High School Welding class ventured out to the pier to check out their handy work. The students constructed eight stands for these stations. What a great way for them to give back to their community!

A great big shout out to all the other community partners that made the project possible:
Members of the 100 Women Giving Back group, the Menominee River Chapter of U.P. Whitetails, Da Yooper Plunge and Kuber Family Foundation whose donations covered the purchase of the stations.
JCI who painted the stands for the life ring stations.
Marinette DPW who placed posts for one of the stations.
Marinette Fire Department personnel who helped with installation.
The City of Marinette.
Special thank you to Menominee Fire Chief Steve Floriano for getting this ball rolling.

On March 9th, 2026, the Oconto Fire Department requested assistance for two individuals that were stuck on an ice flow off the shore of Oakland Lane in Oconto.
Per the request and direction of Oconto Fire Chief Josh Bosted, Marinette Fire Department personnel responded with our airboat to the City of Oconto boat launch.
Personnel proceeded to the location of the individuals stuck on the flow, some 5-6 miles from the boat launch. Upon arrival, the two individuals that were on the ice flow and two Oconto Fire Department personnel, who had made their way onto the ice flow in their Rapid Deployment Craft, were taken into the airboat and brought to shore near Oakland Lane.
For their actions on March 9th, 2026, Marinette Chief Jay Heckel was honored to present Lt Mark Diercks, and Firefighters Cienna Grawey, Darius Dohl, and David Swiatnicki with a Unit Citation Award.

I would like to say thank you to Kelly Stewart and her crew at the Marinette Department of Public Works for their tireless efforts trying to unbury our City from the epic snow storm and for their assistance on several of our calls. Theirs is often a thankless job and often times only hear complaints. THANK YOU!!!
